Activities to do in winter! ☃️

Winter is definitely here! ❄️ Although this is the season of low temperatures, it’s also a season where you can see beautiful scenery, tons of activities and amazing views of snowflakes blanketing Toronto. There are countless activities for someone to do at this time, so protect  yourself well, stay warm with  comfortable clothes and get ready to go out and have fun with many outdoor and indoor activities.

In terms of outdoor Winter Sports around the city, try snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or skating! Snowshoeing 🎿🧣 is a recreational activity people do walking through the snow with snowshoes strapped to your feet, and a sensational experience for snow lovers! Some places you can go to enjoy the walking for free are the Moore Park Ravine Trail or High Park Loop. Or if you want to try a new sport, Cross-Country Skiing could be for  you, this endurance sport usually is more challenging for beginners because it involves learning proper technique but definitely worth a try. Some spots you can test the sport out are the Toronto Island park or Tommy Thompson Park for free. The stores where you can buy snowshoes are Mountain Equipment Company (MEC), Sport Check or Canadian Tire. On December 15th was world ice skating day! Ice skating benefits your mental health and personal growth while you are enjoying physical exercise and experiencing beautiful outdoor sites. Some spots to rent skates are Nathan Phillips Square, The Bentway, and for an additional cost, the Evergreen Brick Works offers skating lessons.

Another fun way to explore and discover the city throughout the winter season is through City Markets ☕☃️. At Harbourfront, beside Lake Ontario and south of the CN Tower with its enchanting atmosphere, enjoy live dance, music, exhibitions and delicious treats, and on Saturday night take part in the skating dance parties. Another option is to visit the St Lawrence market, take a hot chocolate or coffee, walk and discover new local artisans goods, handmade crafts, take photos, and do shopping!
